A little bit about my current book
Today I figured I would go ahead and write a little bit about what I’m writing. Given that I am a fan and have always loved fantasy, that is what I’m working on. If all goes well, I do hope that it will be a series, what type of fantasy you may ask? I must admit that I have never been the biggest fan of high fantasy, magic is cool, but I don’t like it when it dominates the story. My fantasy is more grounded, yes there will be magic, there are other species and mythic beasts that live in my world, there will be limitations as the type of magic that exists. I can also say that this fantasy will get very dark at times, I can’t promise that things will always end well, kind of how in life you just have to do the best you can, sometimes there are circumstances beyond your control, and you just have to adapt.
Honestly,
I have not always been the biggest fan of the happy ending either, it just
feels like something you would see in a kid’s tale, and that is certainly not
what this book will be. I don’t want it to be overall graphic either, I’m
trying to find a balance, when I decide to use vivid details about certain
situations, it is mainly for the purpose of moving the story along, I want it
to have impact on either a character or the story as it moves along.
The
structure of the book will be essentially written in POV chapters, meaning that
each chapter will be a POV of that character. I know that writing an epic
fantasy book may not necessarily be the best decision, but it’s the story I
want to write, the story I want to tell, just as I have always envisioned it in
my mind. The world I’m building is complex, there are different types of
governmental bodies, different nations with different languages, histories, religions,
and political differences. The main theme of my world is that it is one of
constant war and conquest.
The first book begins with a
rebellion against a falling dynasty, and as that war is in progress, there will
be a second uprising in a distant nation that will send shockwaves throughout the
world. While so many nations exist, in the typical medieval style setting of
most fantasy books, I can say that the world is for the most part very
connected, nations are very much aware of the happenings in the lands of their
allies and enemies.
With
that said, I will leave you with this, a quick capture of what this book is
about:
In a realm where ambition fuels endless conquest, House Vordokov defies the reign of House Asharuken, resulting in a war of blood and treachery. Far away, a distant kingdom seethes with unknowing unrest—its own rebellion quietly stirring, darkening the future with shadows of undying whispers.
