Health, Writing, Books, Wine, Scotch, Cigars, and Fast Cars
While reading and writing have always been passions of mine since I was a child, as I have grown older now, I can say that most of my 2024 as busy and hectic as it has been, has also been a year of self care and attention to myself. I started running several months ago, not only attempt to get into better shape, but to also make some personal changes in myself, and I'm very proud of where I'm at and how far I have come along. Running honestly, as taxing as it can feel on the body at times, has helped me clear up my mind, so much that I do sometimes now find writing so much easier than it has been the last few years. I started doing virtual challenges based of Game of Thrones, this shouldn't be too shocking, I love fantasy, lol. I have made amazing progress in the set of challenges, and I'm more than halfway through the longest challenge (The Mother of Dragons Challenge), when I'm done with it, I would have walked, ran, or jogged a total of 231 miles, on top of what has already been completed. The Valar Morghulis challenge at 72 miles, The Beyond The Wall challenge at 76 miles, and The Hand challenge at 92 miles, I have to say that it felt like a daunting task at first, but I love a challenge, I always have.
I am a lover of wine and a good scotch, give me some good music and a cigar to match, and I honestly couldn't be happier, what can I say, I'm a guy who sometimes likes good things, all within reason of course. that brings me to the last thing, fast cars, more importantly, muscle cars, what can I say, I'm a man with a lot of different interests and hobbies (obviously I love the Ren Fests as well, I have an investment level leather suit of armor after all). Muscle cars have always been something that I have loved for as long as I remember too. I owned a Sublime Green Dodge Challenger Scat Pack, 6.4L HEMI engine, I loved that car, I put so much time and work into it, but it introduced me to a group of really amazing people, people I can say that I am glad that I have had the chance to meet, all of us sharing our passion, the car club felt like family, it was a great part of my life.
As time went on, thanks to COVID (that really had a way of impacting our world), things and people drifted apart, it happens, but there are still some I enjoy hanging out with, and friends that I can say will likely be friends for life. These days I have a Ford Mustang GT, another fast car, and I do enjoy driving it, life is too short to drive boring cars! Those are words from a car guy though, I know not everyone shares the same interest.
So with those things that I continue to work on, the things I do enjoy, I look forward to this next chapter of my life, and I truly look forward to finally moving one step closer to living my dream again, it is now or never, and like I said earlier, I love a challenge. I know the road will not be easy, but I'm willing to tough it out every step of the way just as I have been crushing my virtual challenges. I don't give up, I don't quit, and above all, I refuse to surrender. All of this is what makes me, me.
